Pakleni Island
var is a beautiful island and georgeus town. In the centre of the Hvar Riviera . Hvar Riviera comprises a cluster of offshore islets. These islets are among the best the Adriatic has to offer. The Pakleni Islands offer small, secluded beaches, deserted coves and sun-drenched hills. The name "Pakleni otoci" comes from 'Paklina', a resin once used to coat ships.
Island Jerolim is the closest island, which is named after a now-disappeared church. Jerolim is directly opposite Hvar town. It is a favourite island among turists who generally stroll away from the main jetty and stretch out on one of the shady coves. You can find pine trees there and maquis for shade.
Other island which is nearby is island of Marinkovac which contains Stipanska. Stipansak is a beautiful turist beach equipped with showers and a shop. On Marinkovac is also the idyllic cove Zdrilca which has several pebble beaches.
Sveti Klement is the largest Pakleni island (called Veliki Otok or Big Island) famous for beautiful Palmizana hamlet. When a Professor Eugen Meneghello built a summer house and inns on Palmižana in the 20th century it became a favourite getaway for Hvar Islanders. Now this house is a small museum and a gallery. Another nice place near by is Vlaka, a small fishing village. Scuba divers love Palmizana because of its vibrant underwater life.
