Diocletian`s Palace
Diocletians palace is named after its creator, the Roman Emperor Gaius Aurelius Valerius Diocletian. It was created as a result of the imperial ambitions that, in his hometown on the Adriatic coast, in the province of Dalmatia, built himself a mansion in which they will spend old age. Another reason probably is either an abundance of high quality building stone, mild climate and sources of thermal waters are rich in sulfur, and that the emperor should facilitate nursing problems.It is assumed that the works on construction of the palace began to 295th years after Diocletian reformed the management of Empire uvevši tetrarch. Trogir has been known as a ‘monument town’. Some of the most famous sights in the town are the Cathedral of St Lawrence with its remarkable portal by Master Radovan, the Kamerlengo Fortress, the Town Gate, the Čipiko Palace, the Town Hall, the Church of St Nicholas and the ‘Kairos’ art collection. According to the UNESCO: „Trogir is a precious, a consistent part of world heritage. But don’t look just for stone. Look for the mysterious spirit in stone. Look for all those architects, builders, artists, patrons, for all those stories hidden in the history of stone". But there are some museums you should explore...
Salona
Salona was a stronghold and a harbour of the Illyrian Delmati which quite early came into the sphere of influence of the Greeks on the Adriatic. Julius Caesar, who was then the governor of Illyricum gave it the rank of a colony (Colonia Martia Julia Salona) - the center of the province of Illyricum and afterwards of the province of Dalmatia. It developed into a cosmopolitan centre of the Adriatic. The high point of its expansion was during the time of Diocletian when it received the honorary title Valeria, which as a family name belonged to the emperor himself. St. James Cathedral
Cathedral of St. James in Sibenik is the most important architectural achievement XV. and XVI century on Croatian soil. Because of their value this iznimnik Gothic-Renaissance monument in 2000. was included on UNESCO's World Heritage list. In 1298th in Sibenik's diocese was founded. Since the existing St. James Church was small and inadequate for the cathedral, it was decided that the bishop and the city provide funds for the construction of a new cathedral. The decision to start building the decision was 1402nd , when the Venetians in the invasion damaged the old cathedral.
Church of Our Lady of Prizidnica
The sanctuary is situated in beautiful natural surroundings on the southern part of the island, on the stone cliffs beside the sea. The steep cliffs, blue sea, blossoming agaves and a lot of autochthonous plant species, beside the old convent and small church enriched with votive ships, make this place incredible. It is 460 years old and many stories and legends are connected with the place itself, which elder people from Slatine will gladly share when you visit it....
