DESCRIPTION
We pick you up at arranged meeting points. We then take off on a road back into past touring ancient Salona, one of the most important cities of the Roman empire of that time. Walking through Salona you will come upon one of the biggest ancient Christian cemeteries under the blue sky, The Manastirines. Visiting one of the three Roman amphiteatres on the east Adiatic coast you will experience the emotions of the ancient gladiators standing in the middle of that spectacular construction. Our journey through the ancient history continues with the fact that the Roman emperor Diocletian was born in Salona and lived to build one of the today most preserved palaces of that time in the nearby town Split. Continuing our journey we will be sightseeing the 1700 year-old Diocletian`s palace in Split, imagining what the life of Diocletian was like within the walls of the palace. Here you will see the Cathedral of St Duje, one of the most beautiful cultural wonders on the Adriatic coast but also the ancient cellars, Roman temples (today Christian ones) and the famous Golden Gate. After a refreshing cultural day, you will have the opportunity to enjoy lunch along Splits well known waterfront and make a shopping spree of the remainder of your full day excursion. We would be glad to give you suggestions of restaurants and shops to make this trip a memorable one.
